Host nation Ivory Coast have defeated Nigeria to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The Nigeria skipper opened the scoring for the Super Eagles with a well-placed header in the 38th minute of the game, putting the Green White Green team in the lead.
The Elephants were obviously resilient as they continued their push for an equaliser with formidable attacks and chances, but Nigeria was clinical in the defence, absorbing all the scary pressure posed by the Orange team throughout the first 45 minutes of the game.

The Super Eagles midfield network could not rise to the occasion, allowing Franck Kessie, Seko Fofana, and Jean Micheal Seri to overrun the midfield.
With much pressure heaped on the Super Eagles backline, Simon Adingra proved to be the thorn in the flesh of Nigeria defender as he once again assisted Sebastien Haller to score the win goal in the 81st minute.
