Katsina State Government has officially launched a committee to implement the N70,000 minimum wage.

During the inauguration, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal acknowledged the challenges faced by civil servants in the state.

He stated, “Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda has established this committee to ensure the N70,000 minimum wage adjustment is applied across all categories of workers, including state civil servants and local government employees.”

Committee chairman and Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, assured that they would begin work promptly.

The committee comprises 13 members, including representatives from labor unions, government officials, and civil society organizations.

Katsina State joins other regions, such as Akwa Ibom, Kebbi, Ogun, Lagos, and Enugu, that have either approved a minimum wage increase or formed committees for its implementation.

Additionally, in September 2024, the governor announced that his administration invested over N3.77 billion in the health sector from June 2023 to April 2024.

This announcement came during the launch of a new sickle cell center and the distribution of free sickle cell and malaria medications at Katsina General Hospital.
