Kidnappers release ex-Osun governor’s wife after N50m ransom

Former military governor of Bauchi and Osun states, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (retd), while communucating with pressmen confirmed his abducted wife, Mrs Jumoke Bamigboye, on Monday, regained her freedom from the kidnappers who abducted her on Saturday in Oko-Olowo axis, Ilorin, in the Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Mrs Jumoke Bamigboye who currently works the Kwara State judiciary and a member of the Rotary Club International, was kidnapped by some hoodlums on the way from her farm.

The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100m from her family which was later negotiated to N50m as of Monday evening.

The victims husband, Theophilus, who confirmed on Tuesday that she had been released.

He, however, did not comment on the amount paid to the miscreants as ransom.

He said, “She was set free and released Monday night; we thank God for her safety but not without payment of ransom.”

Theophilus revealed that his wife had been taken to a hospital for treatment.
