Bashir, son of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, in his forecast noted that Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, would become the next President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bashir made this comment while praising Kwankwaso over his performance as NNPP presidential in the February 25 polls.
Kwankwaso came fourth in the recently-concluded presidential election behind Peter Obi of Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In the general election, the former governor of Lagos State garnered highest percentage of his votes in Kano State, a feat which earned the title “President of Kano.” among some of his chronic critics.
In a tweet, Bashir wrote: “Those laughing at Kwankwaso that he is only the President of Kano State will not be laughing so much in a few years. He is the next Buhari, potentially.”
