Kwara state commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Hajiya Popoola Fatima Abiola, has warned youths against illicit drug abuse.
She issued this warning at the Drug Abuse Prevention Conference organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C on Saturday, October 31, 2024.
Hajiya Popoola, in her speech, stressed the destructive effects of drug addiction, stating, “Drugs are a killer; you’ll either die fast or slow.”
The commander maintained that illicit substance abuse is a silent killer that causes physical, mental, and emotional destructions, thereby charging youths not to join the bandwagon drug dependants and shun every temptations capable of leading them to the path of destruction.
The narcotic boss further gave assurance that the agency would explore every resource within his disposal to reduce the prevalence of illicit substance abuse and addiction in the state.
The event which was organised students’ union in the North Central Zone to sensitise youths on the need to shun drug addiction and abuse were graced by Kwara State Commissioner for Education, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka (Chairman, Kwara State Council of NLC), Hon. Salami Wasiu Onidugbe (Special Assitant on Students Affairs to Kwara State Governor).
Other dignitaries include: Hon. Yusuf Olatunji (CEO G-Net hotel), Mr Saheed Abodunrin (Marigan Space LTD CEO ), Amb. Anjorin Babatunde (Kwara for Kwara Initiative Convener) and so on.
