Kwara Rebuilders, a pro-democracy group, concluded a 7-day campaign on Friday aimed at raising awareness about flooding and environmental sustainability among Kwara State residents.

In a statement by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Abdullah Abdulganiyu, the campaign wrapped up with an outreach to flood-prone communities in Ilorin, including Adualere, Isale Koko–Dumo, and Isale Asa.

The campaign, tagged #PushItBack, was conducted in partnership with the Kwara State Ministry of Environment. It launched on October 3 and included sensitization efforts through traditional and new media, featuring jingles and graphics.

During the outreach, the group engaged residents in a house-to-house campaign, urging them to adopt safe environmental practices to help combat flooding.

“Our message is clear: we must all take action to practice safe environmental habits to help the government tackle flooding,” said Abdulganiyu.

He emphasized that the group would continue collaborating with the government to educate residents on flood prevention and safety measures.

The community leaders, including Mallam Abdullateef Hamzah of Isale Koko, expressed gratitude for the efforts and called on the state government to maintain interventions such as dredging to prevent future flooding

Kwara Rebuilders is a non-governmental organisation based in Kwara state.
