The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh has maintained that the institution’s resolve to train its staff in the area of capacity building has produced fruitful results with staff of the University winning national and international awards and grants.
The Acting VC said this in his opening remark during an in-house training session in the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences on Wednesday April 25, 2023.
While declaring the programme open, the erudite scholar disclosed that equipping KWASU lecturers with prerequisite grant writing skills would ease grant facilitation and encourage research which would in turn better the ranking of the institution.
Professor Lukman further advised academic staff of the Faculty to follow in the footprints of the trainers, Dr. Abdulwaheed Musa and Dr. Jelili Yusuf who, according to him have won awards and grants for the state-owned institution.
The administrator also praised the the Acting Dean of the newly established Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Shehu Usman Adam for facilitating the training.
He stressed that the “new Faculty is starting on a very high note of disseminating knowledge for the good of humanity”.
In his comment, the Director, Center for Research and Development, Professor Olawale Aliyu in his remarks noted that the University aimed at securing at least two hundred and fifty million Naira (N250,000,000) in research grants for gis academic staff by year end.
He, thereby, expressed optimism that the grants would go “a long way in improving the quality of teaching, research and community development that goes on in the university”.
