Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, has extolled former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Minna, Professor Musbahu Akanji as a “brilliant scientist.”
The astute administrator who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Mashood Mahmood Jimba issued the commendation at the 5th Professor Musbahu Akanji Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences Annual Lecture, themed: “Ensuring Sustainable Energy Future for Nigeria Through Energy Transition,” held at the University’s convocation Arena on May 7, 2025.
The VC, in his glowing remarks, stated that, “The honouree, through his numerous scientific breakthroughs and research publications, has impacted many lives.
According to him, the Offa-born don has mentored a plethora of scholars, many of whom have attained the position of vice chancellorship at various Nigerian universities.
“Some of his mentees who are equally holding key offices within the length and breadth of the country are present at the occasion to honour their benefactor.”
He further noted that erudite scholar is more than just a “brilliant scientist.”
The Dean, Faculty Pure and Applied Sciences, Prof. Abubakar Sidiq Mohammed, in his speech,described Nigeria as a nation endowed with diverse energy resources, charging the country to key into the global advocacy for cleaner and sustainable energy.
He maintained that this move would help eliminate carbonisation and promote environmental sustainability.
“This transition is not merely a technological shift but rather a multi-sectoral challenge that involves policy, innovation, capacity building, and behavioural change. It is an opportunity for the scientific community, industry leaders, and policymakers to reinvent our energy systems in ways that are economically viable, socially inclusive, and environmentally responsible,” he concluded.
