Kwara state Association of Traders Telecommunications Allied Dealers (KATTAD), on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 expressed resentment over alleged destruction of properties by the officials of Kwara State Traffic Management Authority (KWATMA).
The demonstration which took place at Challenge in Ilorin, saw the protesters holding placards with Inscriptions such as, “Stop destroying our properties,” “We need mordern market,” “KWATMA should stop disturbing our people,” “Majority of our people are graduates.”
While peaking with journalists during the protest, Chairman Kwara state Association of Traders Telecommunications Allied Dealers, Mr. Murthador Yusuf described the action as economic sabotage.
He said, “we were so surprised with what we saw here, all our shops have been setback, the show glasses that we are using to sell phones and accessories have been carted away in the midnight.
“When we make enquires, we discovered that the decimators are from the KWATMA and have never see any government agency that will burggled into someone’s market in the midnight. They burggled our into our market and carted away all our properties that worth N10Million.
He further noted that, “our government can not send them this kind of job. We are youth and we are the one that created this market not government and we are operating a legitimate business in the market.
“Majority of us are graduates and this we were we hustle to earn a living and For a very long time, We have been clamoring for conducive market, a befitting computer village just like other states has their own,” he concluded.
He, however, appealed to the state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to look into the issue, noting that they pay their dues and other revenues frequently.
