The Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq during his visit to the flood ravaged areas at Lafiagi has promised to support farmers who lost their investments to the unfortunate incident.
AbdulRasaq made the vow on Sunday, June 25 at the Palace of the Emir of Lafiagi after a visit to the flooded community of Pututa village and Gwa bridge in Lafiagi town.
Pututa village is renown for its agrarian nature.
The Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, who visited the community on behalf of his principal expressed his grief over the occurrence and thereby sympathised with the people of Pututa village and Gwa bridge in Lafiagi community.
This platform gathered that farmers recorded huge economic loss as a result of the destructive flood in the community.
In his remark, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alh. Mohammed Kudi Kawu noted that the flooding has over the years become a frequent development, adding it is always caused by the dredging of the Niger River which is close to the affected areas.
The incident, according to him, severely affected the economy of Lafiagi reputed for its strong agrarin activities.
In his last words, the traditional ruler eulogised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for quickly swinging into action.
