In preparation to hand power to the new administration on May 29, the outgoing Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has officially dissolved his cabinet.
Ganduje, in a press release on Monday, instructed all political office holders to act in line with the directive and thereby hand over the activities of their various offices.
The state tagged “Handover of Activities”, was transmitted by the office of the Secretary to the State Government and signed by Permanent Secretary, Bilkisu Maimota.
According to the directive issued by the outgoing Governor, all commissioners, special advisers, chief executives of parastatals/government-owned companies, and other political office holders must make sure the handing over is conducted without any hitch by transferring their duties to the respective permanent secretaries and directors of administration and general services in their organisations.
To ensure a seamless transition process, Governor Ganduje has set May 26 as the deadline for the handover of all government properties currently in the hands of the appointees.
The said properties are expected to be handed over to the appropriate authorities or directors of administration and general services, with relevant documents sent to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for record purposes.
The directive, as authorised by the Governor, however, spared political appointees whose tenures are still running as backed by relevant laws of their establishments.
“It should be noted that, however, the public officers appointed into organisations that are tenure based and whose tenure has not expired should continue to hold office as stipulated by relevant laws governing their appointments”, the statement added.
Governor Ganduje will on May 29 hand over the administration of the state to the Governor-elect, Abba Yusuf, an ally of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP.
