A High Court sitting in Eket, Akwa Ibom state has condemned Dr. Nwaopara Adolphus Uche, 39, of Immanuel General Hospital Eket to two years imprisonment for stealing beds from the hospital and Immanuel Psychiatric Hospital.
Reports claimed that Adolphus, who hailed from Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, transferred the hospital beds to his private clinic.
The judge, Justice Nsemeke Daniel, maintained that the accused used his position as the medical superintendent of Immanuel Psychiatric Hospital to convert the beds to his personal property.
Also convicted to one-year imprisonment each were Kubiat Anthony Isidore, a 28-year-old wielder from Ikot Idim in Odoro Ikot, Essien Udim Local Government Area, who conspired with the doctor and Felix Samuel Ekwere, a 35-year-old security man in Immanuel General Hospital, from Ekpene Obo in Esit Eket who was caught moving out some of the stolen hospital beds from the hospital at night.
In his confessional statement, Ekwere told the police that it was the convicted Medical Superintendent who sent him.
They were prosecuted by the state through the Ministry of Justice.
