Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has revealed serious internal crises would befall that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The controversial governor made this statement through his official Twitter account on Sunday.

According to Fayose, the turbulence bedeviling the PDP may become “messier” if the skirmishes within the party’s ranks are not resolved.

He noted, “I see more serious turbulence for PDP more than ever before. I have been silent all this while hoping that things will get better.

“I advise we do more than we are doing now to resolve this crisis as events in days/weeks ahead may likely get messier. I pray this advice is not ignored,” Fayose tweeted.

It would be recalled that Fayose jostled for the PDP presidential ticket in six months ago but former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar clinched the ticket.

The ex-governor subsequently said a Southerner must emerge president in 2023.

In September, Fayose, however, gave assurance that despite his support for Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, he would work for the victory Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections.

Wike has been at loggerheads with Atiku and PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu for months, expressing resentment that northerners cannot occupy both positions.

However, Wike and his allies like Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) have boycotted the rallies of the PDP presidential candidate.

Wike has been the spearhead of the agitation calling for Ayu’s resignation over what he termed “injustice” to southerners.
