NDLEA destroys cannabis stores inside Edo forest

...confiscates $269,000 fake dollars from criminal syndicate

Personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have razed loads of Cannabis Sativa warehoused in the Opuje forests in Edo state.

The hard drugs which was destroyed in a two-day joint operation were estimated around 317,417 kilograms.

One Omoruan Theophilus who impersonate as a Police operative to transport the drugs from the forests to the cities.

Other suspects apprehended in connection with the drugs are: Aigberuan Jacob, 42; Ekeinde Anthony Zaza, 53, and Naomi Patience Ohiewere, 42.

The Opuje community in Owan West Local Government Area, Edo State, is popular for cannabis planting.

Counterfeit US Dollars

According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, no casualty was recorded in the hour-long operative despite threat from armed irate youths. He further noted “heavy investment losses inflicted on the cartels.”

In a related development, the Agency, on Thursday 19th January through the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States arrested a criminal syndicate in possession of $269,000 fake US dollars at Oniru Shoprite area of Lekki, Lagos.
