The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has foisted attempts by drug traffickers to transit hard substances in and outside the country through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Tincan seaport, Lagos.
The anti-narcotic agency recovered about 37.5 kilograms of illicit drugs.
Interdiction operations in Kaduna, Kano and Lagos state led to the arrest of 11 suspects in possession of about four tons of skunk.
At the Lagos airport, a freight agent Ogunsina Damilare was on Friday 6th January blocked from exporting 1.5 kilograms of skunk to the United Arab Emirates, as 11.5kgs of the same drugs hidden in wooden statue was readied for exportation to the United Kingdom was confiscated.
At the Tincan port in Lagos, NDLEA seized 24.5kilograms of cannabis indica sent from Montreal, Canada as operatives turned down offer of N8million bribe.
In a similar development, Two different raids also led to apprehension of five suspects and seizure of 3, 672 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
Sunday Bassey, 29 and Jessica Daniel, 14, were nabbed in possession of 96kgs of same substance at Gonin Gora area of the state.
One Sanusi Isah was apprehended with about 12,000 tablets of Tramadol 225mg and Diazepam.
Lagos and Kano NDLEA operatives on Saturday 7th January intercepted 73kgs of Cannabis Sativa and 28,400 tablets of tramadol respectively.
On Friday 6th January, a follow-up raid led to the nabbing of Amechi Moses, following the interception of 29, 800 tablets of Tramadol 225mg in a commercial bus along Owerri – Onitsha road going to Aba in Abia state.
