New Kwara Customs’ boss vows to go tough against smugglers

Comptroller Kahinde Dehinde Ilesanmi was on Friday inaugurated as the new Customs Area Controller of Kwara State Command.

The command’s spokesperson, Chado Zakari made the disclosure in a press release on Friday in ilorin.

Dehinde, who succeeded DC Hussaini Jallo who was has been in charge of the command in acting capacity, had before his appointment, previously served in various commands in different capacities.

He, therefore, implored personnel of the service and concerned individuals to be disciplined and block loopholes aiding smuggling activities in order to shore up revenue collection.

He is former controller Nigerian Customs Service Board Headquarters, Abuja before he was deployed as the Area Comptroller KWARA Command.

According to him, part of the responsibilities before him includes the deployment of modern and highly effective strategies against defaulters.

Ilesanmi thanked the controller General of Customs Service, Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali, CFR and the management team for the appointment, pledging to work in line with the rules and regulations of the services

He pledged to continue to go hard against smugglers in order to make them face wrath of the law.

Dehinde, however, gave assurance that he would not derail from the development initiatives put in place by his predecessor, thereby beseeching operatives of the command for support and cooperation to move it to a lofty height.

He also expressed his unwavering resolve to suppress smuggling and other trans-border crimes, endangering the nation’s economy.
