The lingering fracas in the Niger State All Progressives Congress (APC) took a serious twist as two top aides of the state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello have reportedly joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The two defectors are: the Political Adviser to the governor for Niger East senatorial zone, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Azozom and the Political Adviser for Niger South senatorial zone, Mr Ibrahim Ebbo.
The decampees announced their defections in separate letters to the leadership of the ruling party at the local government and ward levels last week.
Azozom cited personal reasons for his resignation from the Bello led-administration and the ruling APC.

The second defector, Ibrahim Ebbo, got immediate appointment into the presidential and gubernatorial campaign committees of the PDP.
Lamenting the duo’s departure, the Director of Communications of the Governorship Campaign Committee, Mr. Mohammed Yahaya, said defection of both Azozom and Ibrahim to the opposition PDP is huge drawback for the APC.
He further stated that Governor Bello’s kinsman, Ababukar Dan Usman, has also expressed his intent to dump the ruling APC.
Yahaya, who welcomed Azozom into the opposition fold, said the party will benefit from the depth of former APC member’s experience and long service to the state.
