Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan bags MSc from US Varsity

Nigerian track icon and current holder of 100m hurdles in the women’s category, Oluwatobiloba Ayomide Amusan professionally known as Tobi Amusan has obtained a Master of Arts degree in Leadership Studies and Sports Management from a US institution, University of Texas, El Paso.

The reknown athlete took to her official Instagram account on Thursday, May 18, 2023 to share pictures and videos from the graduation ceremony in the United States of America, USA.

Pictures of the world record holder and her coursemates flaunting their graduation gowns with evident joy sitting on their faces have emerged on the internet.

A short video also surfaced online showing the moment the sprinter smiling to the podium to receive her academic certificate.

Tobi Amusan ‘s social media accounts have been inundated with thousands of congratulatory messages from her fans after pictures and videos from her graduation ceremony have generated series of reactions on the internet.

She wrote, “ELOHIM is forever WORTHY of my PRAISE!🙇🏾‍♀️ Sat in my bed on a cold Tuesday night after an intense workout session on the 14th of Dec. 2021…Thoughts of the oncoming athletics year crept into my mind; long story short.

“If 2022 …; it’s gonna be my quit year! I cried; PRAYED & came to the conclusion that I might as well start my Master’s program.

“Took my laptop; browsed through UTEP’s MSc college requirements & of course I needed an 💯 online course due to the nature of my job.

“I called one of my mentors #omoba_abiola1, & proceeded to see him…sent the email to the liberal arts faculty advisor, submitted the required documents & got enrolled in less than two weeks.”

The 26-year-old athlete started her Secondary School Education at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The current World, Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles is the Nigeria’s first ever world champion and world record holder in athletics.

Tobi Amusan made Nigeria proud when she pipped other athletes across different countries to win the 2022 World Championships 100m hurdles gold medal.
