As part of collaborative efforts to end banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other criminal activities in the country, troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and Air Component Operation Whirl Punch unleashed mayhem on criminal elements in Kaduna forests.
The Nigerian troops, in a prolonged operation that lasted for about 48 hours, flushed Manini-Kuriga, Farin Ruwa, Kwanan Yashi, Makera, Dogon Dawa-Maidaro, road Kidanda-Yadi Forest and Sabon Birnin all in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area and Dogon-Dawa-Kidandan in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
While engaging the criminal elements, the soldiers capturied one AK 47 rifle with quantity 20 rounds of 7.62mm Special, six motorcycles and neutralised 4 Bandits as some escaped with bullet wounds.
The troops in their attempt to incapacitate the criminals destroyed their hideouts including their properties.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, while expressing his delight with the success of the operation, praised his troops for their gallantry and resilience.
He, however, admonished well-meaning Nigerians to continue to furnish assist the military and other security agencies with actionable and credible intelligence, also maintaining public health workers and patriotic citizens to watch out for persons who may be seeking medical treatment from gunshot injuries and should inform relevant security agencies.
