Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has warned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, against intimidation of the G-5 governors.
Wike cautioned Ayu and the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, can’t cow the aggrieved governors.
Immediately after the party’s presidential primaries last year, the G-5 governors comprising Wike, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State called for Ayu’s resignation before the 2023 presidential election.
The PDP governors argued that the presidential candidate and National Chairman of the party must not be of Northern extraction.
Following the outcome of the 2023 general elections, Ayu has instituted disciplinary actions against Ortom for allegedly working against the party’s presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku.
However, Wike, while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said: “You cannot cage any of us.”
“Ortom will not appear before any of your so-called disciplinary committees. Ayodele Fayose will also never appear before any disciplinary committee.”
