The Concerned Northern Forum has condemned the detention of Sarkin Hausawa, Lagos, Alhaji Aminu Yaro, following his alleged with former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele, by the Department of State Services, DSS.
The group lamented that detention has violated the fundamental human rights of the suspect.
Chairman of the forum, Mohammed Danlami, in a release on Sunday, said, “We don’t see any legal reason for the DSS to continue to hold such a respected figure in detention, a community leader and renowned businessman along with his wife. This is barbaric; we detest and stand against it; it is not done anywhere in the world, it is not democratic, only under military dictatorship will such a thing happen.”
He continued that the Sarkin Hausawa is innocent until he is convicted by a competent court of law, calling for his immediate arraignment by the secret police.
Danlami further condemned alleged injustice against Yaro and his wife, urging President Bola Tinubu to call the DSS to order.
The group also aaked the Nigerian populace to hold a peaceful protest against the DSS over its unprofessional conduct.
