Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been nominated for the 2024 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award.

CAF made the announcement on Thursday via X, with Nwabali joining a group of ten goalkeepers representing the best of African football talent.

Nwabali is up against some of the continent’s top players, including Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, Egypt’s Mostafa Shobeir, and Senegal’s Djigui Diarra. Other notable names include Cameroon’s Andre Onana, who currently plays in the English Premier League.

The shortlist also features Morocco’s Munir El Kajoui, Algeria’s Oussama Benbot, Ivory Coast’s Yahia Fofana, DR Congo’s Lionel Mpasi, and Tunisia’s Amanallah Memmiche.

Each nominee has displayed remarkable skill and consistency throughout the year, making this year’s competition one of the toughest in recent CAF history.

Nwabali’s nomination marks a significant achievement for Nigerian football, as he joins a select group of Nigerian goalkeepers to be recognized on this prestigious platform. The winner will be announced at the 2024 CAF Awards, where Africa’s top football talents will be honoured.
