Former President and Balogun of Owu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was obviously absent as new Olowu of Owu kingdom in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, formally was issued certificate and staff of office by the Ogun State Saturday, 29th October, 2022.
Oba Matemilola, the 14th Olowu and Paramount ruler of the ancient Owu kingdom in Abeokuta, was presented with the instrument of office by Governor Dapo Abiodun amid cheers and jubilation.
The new monarch, who hails from Oluyalo – Otileta royal house, succeeds Oba Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu, Amororo 11, who joined his ancestors last December.
Governor Abiodun, therefore, appreciated the Owu people for hitch free selection process that produced the 14th Olowu.
He, however, charged Owu sons and daughters to cooperate with the new monarch as antecedent has shown that there can be no meaningful development in an environment where misunderstanding prevails.
Oba Matemilola thanked Abiodun for the installation as well as the kingmakers and Owu people for support throughout selection and nomination process.
Media Aide to Obasanjo, Kehinde Akinyemi explained the former President was on a mission abroad.
He said Obasanjo, who was represented by Otun Owu Chief Doja Adewolu, send his goodwill and prayers.
The former president in his congratulatory message to the 14th Olowu, wished him peaceful and developmental reign.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Olusegun Osoba, Ibikunle Amosun and lot more.
