The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, has disregarded speculations that the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, directed monarchs in the state to stop hosting political opponents.

Oba Mufutau noted that such claim contained no iota of truth.

He made this disclosure on Friday, June 30 when he received former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki in his palace in Offa town.

Saraki alongside his followers visited Offa to condole with the Oyawoye family and the entire community following the demise of Prof. Jimoh Oyawoye – the first professor of Geology in Africa.

Days back, it was alleged that AbdulRazaq directed traditional rulers in the State to stop receiving opposition politicians.

The insinuation gained believability in some quarters when Saraki alongside his followers visited Kwara North but the Etsu Patigi and Emir of Tsaragi didn’t show up to receive them in their palaces.

To undermine the claim, the Olofa said he cancelled his earlier scheduled appointments to receive Saraki.

“When I was informed that Dr. Saraki was coming to Offa today, I had planned another engagement but had to suspend it.

“The reason is that people might misconstrue it to be an instruction from the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“But in all honesty, the governor has never told any of us to stay away from hosting opposition leaders in the state. The traditional rulers who did that were acting on their own,” the monarch said.

Oba Mufutau, however, stated that those traditional rulers who are allegedly afraid of hosting opposition leaders in their palaces are not sincere, saying no one knows what tomorrow portends.
