A Lagos high court on Monday, struck out prayer by Drambi Vandi, a suspended assistant superintendent of police, alleging him of killing a Lagos-based lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem on the December 25, 2022.

Vandi’s counsel, Adetokunbo Odutola, sought the court to discountenance the suit filed against him, insisting that he had no case to answer.

Odutola argued that while none of the witnesses saw Vandi open fire on the deceased, investigation also revealed that the gun reportedly used to fire the bullet is different from any of the weapons discovered at the scene.

Odutola furthered put it to the court that contrary to the prosecution’s claim that the late Omobolanle was shot in the chest, the pathologist who testified before the court stated she was shot from the left through the armpit.

However, the lead prosecution counsel, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), countered the claims, asking the defendant to defend himself, saying a case has been firmly established against him.

In her ruling, Justice Ibironke Harrison, therefore, dismissed Vandi’s application, asking the defendant to open his defense as a prime facie had been established against him.
