According to Jornal de Noticias, Arsenal are intent on launching a transfer bid Vitoria Guimaraes defensive midfielder, Ibrahima Bamba.
The North London based club is currently in the transfer market to recruit another defensive midfielder as a back up to Thomas Partey.
The 20-year-old is currently having a wonderful season in Portuguese topflight and could eager for a move to an elite club overseas.
‘Bamba has a contract until 2026 and a €30 million [£26.3m] termination clause.’
Also, Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta acknowledged the need to strengthen the defensive midfield department as the club battle for the English Premier League title for the first time since 2004.
“We need some more cover in midfield ideally if we can,” Arteta said.
“In this market it’s pretty complicated to do that.
“The most important thing is that we get the performances and the time on the pitch that we need with the players we have available today that are already really good.”
Mohamed Elneny’s injury could force Arsenal into the winter transfer business.
