The Rivers State Police Command has announced the release of the three people kidnapped along the Obiri-Ikwerre-Port Harcourt Airport Road by some armed men.
The Command made this announcement confirmed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Grace Iringe-Koko.
The force PPRO, in the release, maintained that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu had directed the Area Commanders, DPOs, and Tactical Team Commanders in the area, to beef security and ensure the release of the victims.
According to the spokesman, the police boss issued the order during a meeting with the officers.
According to Iringe-Koko, “the pressure and massive deployment of Police presence” led to the release of the victims who have already reunited with their family members on Friday.
Recall that gunmen suspected to be herdsmen had masterminded the abduction of about eight people around the Port Harcourt International Airport Road Roundabout, Omuagwa, on 2nd January 2024.
