Police arrest Maiduguri Market looters, Hilux vandal

Borno State Police Command has announced the arrest of 50 suspects who were alleged to have looted several properties in a fire outbreak that occurred in Maiduguri Market.

Recall that on Sunday, February 26 a serious inferno broke out at the popular Maiduguri Market, Borno State, ravaging several properties and shops worth billions of Naira.

Meanwhile, hoodlums were reported to have hijacked unfortunate situation to cart away with several valuable properties belonging to shop owners.

Storming the scene in order to forestall breakdown of law and order, the command police apprehended the miscreants who wrecked further havocs on the shops.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Sani Kamilu
Shatambaya said the suspects are currently in the police custody, facing investigations and will be duly charged to court.

In a related development, one Sadiq Ibrahim was also arrested in connection with destruction and burning of a Civilian JTF Hilux Vehicle, with body registration number 001 attached to Sector 3.

According to the command, there was no casualty recorded but the inferno destroyed the market police out-post and partially affected the branches of First Bank and Polaris Bank Domiciled inside the market.
