Taofeek Sulaiman, a 40-year-old has been arrested by the Ogun state Police Command for defiling his 13 years old stepdaughter.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, made the revelation Thursday, in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
The suspect, according to the statement was arrested after the incident was reported to the police by the mother of the victim, who got married to the suspect after the demise of her husband.
She further said her daughter apprised her of an illicit act by the suspect who has been having carnal knowledge of her since the 14th of October 2022, and that the suspect has been threatening to eliminate her if she informs anyone.
“Upon the report, the DPO Owode Yewa division, CSP Muhammed S Baba, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy stepfather was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime but blamed it all on the devil’s handiwork.
“The victim was taken to Idiroko General Hospital by the Police for medical attention”, the statement read.
Meanwhile, the suspect, on the order of the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible prosecution.
