The National Population Commission, (NPC) has said the 2023 national population and housing census would take place between March 29 and April 1, 2023.
The NPC Chairman, Nasir Kwarra, made this known on Friday, after meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
“By March 29 to April 2, our staff will be in the field enumerating people,” said Kwarra.
He furthered that modern technologies be used to code buildings and landmass, detailing information, giving assurance that the exercise would be a credible one.
Kwarra, however, revealed that noted that foreigners living in Nigeria would be counted.
About N40bn was set aside for the commission in the 2023 Appropriation.
A total of N10m was earmarked for the national population and housing census as the national population data bank, Nigerian population database management system geo-portal hosting of population website and web portal would consume N50 million.
Schools and the training of advocates staff for data collection and interviewing techniques will also take not less than N60m.
N350m will be expended on the expansion of registration centres, registration of birth and death, and Adhoc registration .
The sum of N25m was allocated for census research, documentation, and archiving as expenses on Media advocacy and Publicity is about N120m.
