President Tinubu to watch Super Eagles against Ivory Coast live in Abidjan

Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has travelled to Abidjan as Super Eagles feature against the country host country Ivory Coast will in the final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

The match is scheduled to take place at 9pm at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.

While fielding questions from journalists speaking on Friday at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan, the President of Confederation of African Football, CAF, Motsepe expressed hope that that Nigeria would clinch the trophy, hinting at President Tinubu possible attendance during the match.

“I was told the President of Nigeria is coming. I was sitting next to the vice president during the Nigeria-South Africa game. While I can’t show excitement when any nation scores, they said they could see my happiness. And yes, I am always happy,” he said.

When interrogated about the possibility of Africa hosting the World Cup again, he noted that, “Nigeria must put in a bid. I will have a conversation with him (Tinubu) about it.

“If you haven’t been to Lagos, you haven’t been to Africa. As president of 54 member federations, I owe them all a duty, but I am proud of Nigeria.”

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima was part of the spectators when the Super Eagles beat South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
