The Social Democratic Party, SDP, presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo has cautioned former president Olusegun Obasanjo over allegation of electoral malpractices by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The legal practitioner issued this warning through his verified Twitter handle after the former military ruler in an open letter to president Muhammadu Buhari on Monday raised serious concerns that the outcome of the recently concluded presidential election might stir national violence except a rerun is conducted on Saturday, March 4.

Adebayo said, “Very unlawful, unconstitutional, dangerous letter by @Oolusegun_obj. @MBuharicannot interfere with @inecnigeria while collating election results. Parties can protest to @inecnigeria and if not satisfied, go to court for redress as @TheSDPNg in Ekiti and @OfficialAPCNg in Osun.”

Obasanjo further expressed lack of trust in the general elections, alleging compromise by the electoral umpire.

“It is no secret that INEC officials, at operational level, have been allegedly compromised to make what should have worked not to work and to revert to manual transmission of results which is manipulated and the results doctored.”
