A reknown Islamic cleric, Sheikh (Dr) Ridwan Ibrahim Olagunju has called on the member-elect, House Representatives for Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency, Dr. Ahmed Yinka Esho to continue to show his exemplary character.

The Islamic scholar turned lecturer issued this admonition during the annual Ramadan lecture organised by the Ikokoro family on Saturday to celebrate the victory of the newly elected lawmaker during the February 25 general election.

While describing Aluko as a highly principled and astute politician, Sheikh Olagunju charged him to be ready to deal with impeding challenges that would accompany his new role in the lower chamber.

He, therefore, asked the former Security Adviser to use his position to bring members of his constituency under one unifying umbrella, irregardless of whether they voted for him or not.

Speaking on the ancestral pedigree of the Ikoroko family, the Islamic preacher appealed to Aluko to emulate the moral virtues for which his progenitors were known, further noting that the Ikorokos are hitherto reputed for their intellectual excellence.

The legal luminary further advised the member-elect not to renege on his campaign promises and should not close his ears to the yearnings of his constituents when he finally assumes office as lawmaker in the 10th National Assembly.

Sheikh Olagunju, however, prayed for the former Director-general National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Is’haq Modibbo Kawu to achieve his heart desires.

In his earlier remark, the preacher tasked the politician’s kinsmen to rally round him in order to record a productive performance as lawmaker.
