Russia, on Saturday announced that its forces have captured the village of Zoryane in eastern Ukraine, advancing towards the industrial hub of Kurakhove.

Kurakhove, located in the west of Donetsk—already under Russian control—is now within Moscow’s reach, with troops just a few kilometers from the center.

“The locality of Zoryane… has been liberated,” Russia’s defense ministry stated.

Kurakhove, which had a population of around 20,000 before the Russian invasion in early 2022, is situated south of Pokrovsk, a key logistical center.

Meanwhile, Russian forces have intensified their attacks in Ukraine’s southern Zaporizhzhia region.
