Security force arrest suspected hoodlums terrorising Otukpo community

Three suspected kidnappers have been apprehended at the early hours of Sunday at Ogoli Ugboju, Benue State.

The suspects are members of a notorious five-man kidnapper syndicate allegedly causing violence in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

DAILY POST reported that the hoodlums were arrested following collaboration between the Executive Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Hon Prince Maxwell Ogiri, and local security agencies.

Among those arrested are Abu Umaru and Ashimu, two of the key members of the notorious group.

Confirming the development, the chairman of the the local government, Ogiri, praised the security agencies for their vigilance and commitment in ensuring that those responsible for the criminal activities in the community are swiftly apprehended.

He said, “Faces of three members of a five-man kidnapping gang that has been terrorizing Otukpo Local Government Area and surrounding communities.

“Our gallant security forces chased and apprehended them today, Sunday, 6th April 2025, in Ogoli-Ugboju.

“The names of the criminals are Ibrahim Salleh, Ashimu and Abuh Umaru. Efforts are ongoing to track down their remaining accomplices and local collaborators.”

However, when contacted, the Benue State Police PRO, Kate Anene, stated that she had not been briefed.

“I have not been brief but I will reach the DPO about it,” she told DAILY POST.
