A sex worker named Joy Kelvin has been accused of fatally stabbing a 48-year-old man, identified as Okafor, at Jakande Housing Estate in Lekki, Lagos State.
The incident reportedly took place around 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event in a statement.
He explained that Okafor had invited Kelvin to his home for the night. A friend of the deceased informed the Ilasan Police Division around 7 a.m. that Okafor had been stabbed to death by Kelvin.
Police detectives responded to the scene, documenting evidence and transporting the body to the morgue for an autopsy.
Hundeyin noted, “On October 7, 2024, at approximately 7:20 a.m., a complainant reported to the Ilasan Division that earlier that morning, around 5:32 a.m., he received a call from a friend stating that Okafor had been stabbed in his residence at Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, Lagos, by Joy Kelvin, a female prostitute he had brought home.”
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Hundeyin added that Kelvin has been arrested, and efforts are being made to contact Okafor’s family, saying that investigation is ongoing.
