The Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kashim Shettima has called out the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi for always churning out “dubious tales and figures” to deceive unsuspecting electorate.
He made this remarks at the APC Local Government Summit for Tinubu/Shettima in Abuja, where the party’s adopted manifesto was launched, Friday, February 10.
Shettima said, despite having the rare opportunity of governing Anambra State, Obi never made any effort at addressing the developmental challenges facing the people, noting that 40 percent of the state has been devastated by erosion.
He further stressed the former governor of Anambra who always poses as solution to the problems facing Nigeria, graduated with poor academic performance at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and was governor for eight years without signature projects.
The lawmaker expressed surprise that Obi, in a multi-ethnic and religious setting like Nigeria, wants to navigate his way to the presidency using ethnic division, deceit, blackmail threat and intimidation.
The former governor of Borno, however, stated that there are better qualified individuals of southeastern extraction than Peter Obi, thereby saying the likes of Rochas Okorochas, former governor of Imo States and Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi are people with impeccable political credentials and records.
He also noted that he is in support of the “emergence of the Nigerian president of southeastern extraction in order to heal the wounds of the civil war but the modus operandi adopted by the delusional Obidiot crowd is condemnable and it would take them nowhere.”
Speaking on the president candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, Shettima lashed out at the former vice president for having no impact in his constituency, despite being vice president for eight years.
Shettima added that President Muhammadu Buhari during his time as Chairman, Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, built the road to Atuku’s village, referring to the Waziri of Adamawa as a selfish politician who only considers his pocket alone.
He, thereby, admonished fellow northerners to jettison sectionalism and tribal bigotry and support APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been giving his all for the Northern region since the days of the late Musa Yar’adua up to 2014 when he facilitated the South West bloc votes that enabled president Muhammadu Buhari to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate.
The vice presidential candidate condemned the endorsement of Atiku by the Northern Elders Forum, clarifying that they cannot speak for the entire region as they belong in the PDP.
Shettima critised the elders for plotting against Muhammadu Buhari becoming president in 2014, pleading with Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to work for his emergence as the party’s standard ahead of the APC primaries held in Lagos.
