Super Eagles wallop Sao Tome 6-0 to qualify for 2024 AFCON

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated Sao Tome and Principle 6-0 to qualify for the 2024 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The round 6 match, which was played at the Godswill Akpabio International, Uyo, Akwa Ibom on Sunday marked the of qualification rounds.

The Super Eagles looked brilliant from the beginning of the match as Lookman Ademola set Victor Osimhen up in the 13th minute to put the home team ahead.

14 minutes later, Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi located Lookman Ademola with a finishing pass to double the lead, with Nottingham Forest forward, Taiwo Awoniyi making it 3-0 in the 51th minute.

Osimhen would later score a hatrick after finding back of the net in the 69th and 79th minute, respectively.

Sao Tome defensive line could no longer contain Super Eagles dreadful attacks as AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze registered his name on the scoresheet just 11 minutes after replacing Kelechi Iheanacho.

With this victory, Nigeria has qualified for the AFCON after topping Group A with 15 points.
