The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won Rivers state after recording a total votes of 231,593 in the recently concluded presidential election.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), floored his closest rival Peter Obi of the Labour Party who was in a early lead.
But unfortunately, the announcement of results from Governor Nyesom Wike’s Obio-akpor Local Government Area saw Tinubu leapfrog Obi who scored 3,829 as against the APC candidate who garnered 80,239 votes.
The former Lagos State governor polled a final votes of 231,593 standing at 46% to come first while Obi got 175,555 representing 35% to emerge second.
Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Abubakar Atiku came distant third with 88,261 votes representing 17% in the presidential election results.
Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, scored 1527 votes representing 0%.
The total registered voters in the state were 1941549 while a total of 521442 voters were accredited with total valid votes standing at 49935
Similarly, Tinubu also floored his opponents in Borno state after scoring 252,282 votes against his closest challenger, Abubakar Atiku who polled 190,921.
Peter Obi was far behind with 7,205 votes while Kwankwaso amassed 4,626 votes.
