Tinubu nominates Yemi Cardoso as CBN governor

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Finance Expert, Yemi Cardoso to the senate for screening and confirmation as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This development was contained in a press release by the Specail Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale on Friday.

The statement further added that the nomination was in line with Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, empowering the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to appoint the Governor and Four (4) Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after confirmation by the Red Chamber

In the same vein, the President also nominated Emem Nnana Usoro; Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo; Philip Ikeazor and Bala M. Bello as new Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for a term of five (5) years.

The release said, “In line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, the President expects the above listed nominees to successfully implement critical reforms at the Central Bank of Nigeria, which will enhance the confidence of Nigerians and international partners in the restructuring of the Nigerian economy toward sustainable growth and prosperity for all.”

During the tenure of Tinubu as Lagos State Governor,  Yemi Cardoso served as Commissooner for Economic Planning in his administration.
