President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may sack more of the public officials appointed in the die minute of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
It was gathered that the former president, until the morning of May 29, which was his last day in office, ratified some appointments.
A reliable source claimed that preparations are ongoing to called off some of the appointments by the previous government.
An insider who confided in PUNCH revealed that the plan might spare last-minute appointments by Buhari’s ministers and heads of agencies.
The source said, “Some of the last-minute appointments by some ex-ministers will be nullified. It will be gradual, so I can’t exactly tell you the number of those who will be affected. As you know, some of them were done in a hurry. The appointments are being reviewed. I can confirm that to you.”
Recall that the former President on May 11 appointed a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Garba Baba-Umar, as a Senior Security Adviser on International Police Cooperation and Counter-terrorism in the Office of the Minister of Police Affairs.
Also, Tinubu on Friday, ordered the sack of Dr. Bashir Gwandu, appointed by Buhari as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure on May 19, 2023, replacing him with Khalil Halilu.
Khalil’s appointment, has therefore, lent credibility of sort to various reports making the rounds that Tinubu might disengage public officials appointed by Buhari in the twilight of his administration.
