A operator of a commercial tricycle better known as Keke Marwa who stabbed a young man to death was battered to death on Wednesday evening in Yenizue-Epie community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

The tricenarian, identified as Douglas Joseph, was a native of the community and a father of three.

A source revealed that they were outside, by Saptex junction, in Yenizue-Epie, when the argument broke out between the Keke rider and Joseph.

He said: “He said he was coming from Opolo community to Kpansia which was supposed to be N100, but the Keke rider insisted on collecting N150.

As we were separating them, we saw the Keke rider bring out a dagger. We thought it was just to scare the youth. But he stabbed him on his lap and the young man fell to the ground. People prevented the Keke rider from running away. Unfortunately, his wounded victim died. Following his death, the Keke rider was lynched by a mob that hit him with different objects.”

While confirming the incident, the Bayelsa State Police Command, allayed people’s fear, normalcy has returned to Kpansia and its environs.
