Chairman, Kwara State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rt. Reverend S.T.G Adewole has condemned a statement attributed to one Reverend Israel Afolabi Amoo, endorsing the second term bid of the state’s governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on behalf of the religious body.
Reverend Adewole clarified that purported statement does not represent the interest of CAN, describing it as a “self initiated write up.”
He noted, “My attention was just drawn to a press release by the Province of Kwara Church of Nigeria Anglican communion dated 9th March 2023 and signed by the Most Revd Israel Afolabi Amoo speaking on behalf of CAN Kwara State chapter and Kwara province on the above caption and wish to make the following assertion and submissions
” I, Rt. Rev’d S.T.G Adewole, Bishop of Kwara Anglican Diocese and the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter Vehemently deny the above captioned Press Release and dissociate myself and our members from the content and that it was a self initiated write up.
“That the said Kwara province of the Anglican communion has not met to discuss the above subject.
“The Christian Association of Nigeria Kwara State has not appointed the author as her spokesman. I hereby urge all Kwara State Anglican Communion members and Kwara State CAN to be resolute and stand firm by their personal convictions.”
