Kwara State Police Command averred that it has yet to lift the restriction on motorcycles and tricycles across the state between 9pm and 6am.
The Police spokesperson, Okasanmi Ajayi, made this disclosure, Tuesday, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, following breach of the directive by operators.
He also dispelled insinuations that the command arrested transport union leader over difference in political affiliations.
The statement read, “This reminder is imperative in light of the wrong assumption by some political party supporters that the enforcement of the order banning the movement of Okada and Keke NAPEP operators is targeting Okada riders who were loyal to their party; this assumption is false and without basis.
“The police arrested no union leader for supporting any political party, if there was any arrest, the arrested person definitely must have committed an offense.”
He, thereby, gave assurance that the police command is non-partisan in the course of discharging its constitutional duties.
He, however, implored supporters of political parties to desist from campaign of calumny and always follow the path of truth.
