We will take back this country – Obi

Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has promised to rebuild Nigeria if elected president in the 2023 election.

Obi is presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the next year’s general elections.

Speaking with party faithful at the Baptist Convention Ground, venue of the Party’s Presidential rally in Benin-city on Friday, Obi gave assurance of his commitment towards making the country for all and sundry.

He said if elected President of Nigeria, the country would attain sufficiency in food and hunger would be eliminated in the land.

“We will stop people from looting the nation’s treasury.

“It’s about you (referring to the youths), with you, we will take back this country.

“Labour Party will stop nepotism, that is my commitment,” he said.

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, who earlier received the LP presidential candidate and his running mate, Yusuf Datti, in his palace in Benin, said Obi’s reputation preceded him.

He disclosed that the Benin royal stool, right from time immemorial is reputed for political neutrality.

The monarch said the throne was interested in the one who had the interest of Nigerians at heart, one who could make life meaningful for all.

Obi told the Oba that he was in the palace with his team to seek his blessings as he embarked on his campaign.

He said the forthcoming elections should not be hinged on sentiment of any kind, but on capability and effectiveness to deliver good governance.

Obi assured that if elected, his government would leverage the country’s population and arable expense of lands to boost the nation’s agronomy and make life better for Nigerians.
