New Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Granit Xhaka, has explained reason he decided not to commit his future to any other Premier League club after quitting Arsenal.
Xhaka signed the Bundesliga side in a £21 million transfer this summer.
The Swiss international spent seven years in the Premier League, playing for the North London club before his exit.
Xhaka disregarded insinuation that he sought a move away from Arsenal because his wife was unhappy in England.
He said: “I spent seven magnificent years at Arsenal, I didn’t want to play against them. It wasn’t easy for me to leave or for the club to let me go.
“I felt love and respect from Edu and Arteta, but I wanted to face a new challenge at Bayer Leverkusen.”
