Woman allegedly pours tenant hot water mixed with pepper over rent payment

A landlady referred to as Amaka Okonkwo has allegedly bathed her tenant with hot water mixed with pepper over her failure to pay house rent.

It was learnt that the tenant, Imabong William, had received quit notice over her inability to pay a new rent proposed by the landlady, but demanded additional time to get a new apartment, before the house owner poured hot water mixed with pepper on her.

The incident occurred on Thursday at Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra  State.

Multiple reports claimed that the victim, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, was rushed an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.

Afterwards, the landlady, Amaka, was also arrested by the police following reports from her neighbours.

Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Mrs Ify Obinabo, who visited the victim, explained that the victim had been served quit notice over her inability to pay the new rent increment.

She furthered that she asked for more time to secure a new apartment, but unfortunately, while she was washing her clothes on Thursday, the said landlady poured hot water mixed with pepper on her from behind.
