Women’s W’Cup: Australia match a must win – Okonjo-Iweala to Super Falcons

Director General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has made a patriotic call on the Super Falcons of Nigeria to defeat the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup co-host, Australia.

The former Minister of Finance lauded the team following their hard-fought draw against Canada in their opening Group B game.

Okonjo-Iweala sent motivating words to the Super Falcons ahead of the team’s cracker against Australia on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Commenting via her offical Twitter handle, on Sunday, Okonjo-Iweala said, “Hello Super Falcons! Congratulations on an incredible effort in your draw with Canada. Wishing you the best in the upcoming Australia match up!!!”

It was gathered that the female team match against Canada on Friday, ended in a goalless draw with goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozi saving a penalty to deny the North Americans all three points.
