Women’s W’Cup: Super Falcons qualify for quarterfinal

Super Falcons have progressed to the round of 16 women championship in Australia following a goalless draw against the Republic of Ireland early on Monday.

The team started their third match of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup fixture against ‘The Girls in Green’ on defensive note.

The Irish were sharp in attack as the Nigerian ladies found it difficult to hold possession most often time.

Barcelona striker, Asisat Oshoala almost put Nigeria one goal up against ‘The Girls in Green’ after receiving a pass from Uchenna Kanu but fired wide.

The team qualified for the rounds after garnering 5 points from 3 matches as they await results from group D to determine their next opponent.

In the second game of Team B, Australia defeated Canada to top the group with 6 points while Republic of Ireland finished fourth with just 1 point in three matches.
