Yoruba actress, Iya Gbonkan overjoyed as Nigerians donate ₦4.6m for house project, car

Popular Yoruba actress, Magaret Bandele Olayinka, professionally referred to as Iya Gbonkan, has received about N5 million in donations from different individuals to buy her first car and complete her ongoing housing project in Lagos State.

The development came after a cleric, Prophet Gabriel Agbala, decided to facilitate the donation following her call for help to complete her house and buy a car.

The actress was seen in a viral video on social media, making public appeal to Nigerians to support her to complete her old house and get a car.

The City Gazette recalls that Iya Gbonka, had in the viral video, lamented how she has been striving in the Nollywood industry for several decades without financial breakthrough to get herself a vehicle, further noting she trekked to movie sets most times.

Charging her prospective helpers, she maintained that she deserves financial assistance during her lifetime, not after her death, saying she would lay curses on any individual who would bring cow for her burial ceremony after failing to help her when she was alive.

Acting on Iya Gbonka’s appeal, Gabriel had taken to his Facebook live on Tuesday to solicit funds from kindhearted individuals around the globe.

Keeping members of the public abreast of he donation, Gabriel stated on his Facebook page on Wednesday, “N4.1MILLION NAIRA for IYA GBONKAN HOUSE. 650 thousand naira for MAMA ABENI AGBON. 650 thousand naira for MAMA TAMOTIYE.

“500k on the ground for MAMA GBONKAN’S CAR, WORK HAS STARTED ALREADY, OSHOGBO. WE ARE COMING BY FRIDAY NEXT WEEK.”

Expressing her gratitude to the donors for their financial support in Yoruba, Iya Gbonkan said: “I’m thankful and I don’t have power, you are my backbone, you will not get tired.

“My matter will not get you tired and you will not be indebted for the good thing you are doing to me.

“In the name of God, you will have enough to spend. You will not have pain and in the name of God, you will not go blind.”
